“Unlike my father, I had no intention of going into the mortgage business. From early junior high through Cal Poly San Luis Obispo I was consumed by the desire to be an investment counselor. After two years I realized people would obsess over their investments while, at the same time, they were getting into mortgages that were absolute losers. In fact, everyone’s mortgage balance was always much bigger than their investment portfolio. “I decided I could be far more effective helping people experience stability and growth in building their net worth by helping them intelligently manage their mortgage liabilities. I enjoy diminishing my Clients’ apprehensions about managing their mortgage debt and raising their expec-tations about the tremendous impact good planning has on their future. “At this point in my life it seems my work is my hobby. I start my day with the opening of the New York Stock Exchange where I track trends in the general economy, housing markets, and foreign exchange markets. Searching for clues as to the direction of the interest rate markets is entertaining. On rare occasion I get to steel away to surf in my home town, San Clemente.”
